BOSS once again entered the Regional Open Water Championships, this year taking place at Whitlingham Outdoor Centre, Norwich.
Swimming for the second consecutive year, Alexandra Edge swum fantastically to grab a county gold medal in the 5k, and a East Region bronze.
Dipping into outdoors competition for the first time, Charlotte Hartin also swum brilliantly to win an Essex bronze, finishing in 8th place in the regional championship.
A top effort by both girls!

Payne wins Bronze in Sheffield
Harry Payne had a very impressive week at the ASA National BAGCAT Championships which have just taken place at Ponds Forge Pool in Sheffield. Competing in three freestyle events, Payne returned home after reaching three finals and setting a bagful of personal best times throughout the week.
Highlight of this year's nationals for Payne, was undoubtedly the bronze medal secured in the 13 years 400m Freestyle. Going into the competition ranked 15th, Payne dominated his heat to finish in 4.23.12, a five second PB which placed him as fourth fastest for the evening final. Starting the final in a similarly aggressive style to the heat, Payne held third place all the way until until the last length when he was involved a tremendous battle for the bronze medal. Digging deep, Payne touched narrowly before his rival to set another impressive PB, three seconds quicker than the heat in 4.20.27.
Remarkably, Payne set a total of seven personal best times throughout his week at the Nationals Age Group Championships. Kicking off the week with 8th place and a fifteen second PB in the 1500m freestyle, Payne followed up his early success with 7th and another ten second PB in the 800m freestyle. With 3rd in the 400m freestyle, Payne ensured he completed top ten final positions in all the events he competed.
Swimming a few days later in the National Youth Championships, Jonathan Sayer and George Morris also put in some creditable performances. Competing in two freestyle events, Sayer set a season’s best in the 800m and narrowly missed setting a new long course personal best in the 400m. Also swimming in the 800m freestyle, 16 year old Morris put in a decent swim to mark his return at national level competition.

Borough of Southend Swimming & Training Club are looking forward to the culmination of another successful year, as three swimmers travel north this week to compete in the ASA National BAGCAT and the ASA National Youth Championships.
Representing BOSS this year in Sheffield will be Jonathan Sayer and George Morris, while Harry Payne will be the first to kick off proceedings on Thursday this week. Payne is highly ranked once again going into this year’s nationals, and will be competing in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle events.
After missing last years nationals through injury, Sayer has put an impressive season together this year and he is looking forward to competing in both the 400m and 800m freestyle.
